Converting HEIC to JPG on Your iPhone
Apple's new file format, HEIC (High Efficiency Image Compression), balances quality with compression. Unfortunately, not all apps and devices support it yet.
Convert HEIC files to JPG for editing and viewing purposes easily and quickly using CopyTrans Studio, an automated photo backup solution. Here's how it works:
Formats
Apple introduced their HEIC image file format with iOS 11 in 2017. This compact format occupies less space while maintaining quality - perfect for iPhone users! However, not all software and applications support it yet.
Photoshop and Lightroom don't support HEIC photos by default, so to keep your beautiful images accessible for the widest audience possible you must convert them to an accessible format; JPG is one such format, being one of the most commonly-supported web image file formats with support for all color modes and an exceptionally flexible nature while boasting smaller file sizes than its alternatives.
Apple released their High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF) image format as part of iOS 11 in 2017. It uses lossy compression technology that can save space while maintaining high-quality images, with compression levels that can be altered as desired. HEIF was inspired by High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), a longstanding video compression standard used by many digital cameras and camcorders; in its implementation with iOS 11, this format includes information such as camera model, date/time/location and lens type; burst photography or live view photos may even be included! HEIF utilizes lossy compression while its compression level can be changed according to your own preference - an invaluable feature when working with iOS 11!
Tools
Apple introduced HEIC image file format as part of iOS 11 to improve quality and storage efficiency while maintaining visual integrity, but due to being relatively new technology many applications, software, and devices don't yet support it - this makes converting your HEIC photos back to JPG an essential step for viewing and sharing hassle-free.
There are various tools available to you for converting HEIC files to JPG images, such as online services such as Heictojpg. They allow you to upload and convert multiple HEIC files simultaneously while providing different output formats and batch processing options. Plus, their interfaces are user-friendly with privacy-centric policies to protect your data.
If you prefer working locally with images, HEIC files can be downloaded onto your computer and converted into JPG using various programs - most are free and require no installation - while iOS also features built-in conversion features that enable this conversion process.
Use iMazing app to convert HEIC photos and videos from your iPhone or iPad into legacy formats for playback on older systems, and editing photos using powerful photo editing tools, creating beautiful collages, enhancing them with filters, effects and illustrations to get maximum out of them.
Options
If you prefer JPEG images over HEIC ones on your iPhone, it's easy enough to stop your iPhone from taking photos in that format. Simply head into Camera settings on your phone and switch off HEIC camera support; as soon as photos transfer from phone to computer or when email attachments arrive they will also be converted before being sent; though this method takes more time. JPEG file formats are widely supported across software and hardware products alike so switching them quickly.
